Trash talk is an integral part of baseball. That has been the case for decades as players get into heated rivalries. But players have to back up that trash talk with elite play and prove themselves. Otherwise, their statements fall flat. Most recently, Toronto Blue Jays’ ace suffered a brutal loss. This comes months after his controversial “worst cheater statement that he doubled down on last month.

The Blue Jays have had some decent form in recent weeks. But their latest game ended with a devastating loss for the team. This came after a rough start from their ace pitcher that ultimately cost them the game.

It has been a few months since Blue Jays’ Alek Manoah called Gerrit Cole MLB’s worst cheater. But the star pitcher doubled down on those comments in April, saying that he didn’t regret them. Most recently, Manoah felt the effects of karma as he suffered a brutal start against the Houston Astros. He couldn’t even complete the first inning, after giving up 6 runs that started with an ill-fated bunt. Fans have ridiculed Manoah as his 2023 season is not going to plan. Fox Sports: MLB shared a video of the bunt and the Blue Jays stars’ ridiculous actions on Twitter.

In a Tweet, they said, “‘please go foul, please go foul’ 🤣 -Alek Manoah, probably”. Unfortunately for Manoah, the bunt attempt did not go foul. Furthermore, it opened up the floodgates, and 6 runs were scored in that first inning. Manoah was replaced on the mound after 38 brutal pitches in a devastating, incomplete inning.

The reactions to his game and the bunting incident have been brutal.

This was a disheartening outing for the Blue Jays ace shortly after doubling down on his comments against Cole. Last year, when asked who the worst cheater in baseball history is, he picked the Yankees’ ace. Manoah had said, “Gerrit Cole. He used a lot of sticky stuff to make his pitches better. And he kinda got called out on it.” In April, he doubled down on those comments and has been outplayed by Cole since.

Cole is having a better season than Manoah

Gerrit Cole is quietly having a spectacular 2023 campaign. Many experts rank him among the top-5 pitchers this season. Alek Manoah, on the other hand, is struggling for form with a 6.36 ERA and inconsistent pitching. Although Cole struggled in a couple of his recent outings, he made a fantastic comeback against the Los Angeles Dodgers allowing 1 run in 6 innings. The two pitchers’ performances thus far are like night and day, with Cole having the better season.
