It is well known that the New York Yankees made a $150 million offer to Blake Snell this off-season. Furthermore, it is known that the lefty ace shot down the Bronx Bombers’ offer while asking for a bigger salary. But in a latest update on Snell, the Yankees’ top brass seemingly ignored advice from Aaron Judge and Gerrit Cole.
Cole is the Bombers’ best pitcher and won the AL Cy Young award last season. As a top pitcher and leading voice in the dugout, he knows many aspects of the game. On the other hand, Judge also has significant sway being the Yankees captain. But despite these two stars’ strong words, the Yankees had to avoid it.

The New York Yankees pulled out of the Blake Snell sweepstakes and signed Marcus Stroman when negotiations didn’t progress. There was a gap in valuations between the lefty ace and the Bombers. This decision has left supporters somewhat let down, but still looking forward to Stroman’s best. But according to a latest update, Aaron Judge and Gerrit Cole were also let down when the club moved on from Snell. Both Yankees stars seemingly endorsed the 2023 NL Cy Young winner, according to New York Post’s Jon Heyman.
Heyman said, “Gerrit Cole and Aaron Judge recommended the signing of Snell early, but the sides are too far apart for recommendations to make a difference.” The difference was indeed massive, with Snell and his agent Scott Boras demanding a deal in the region of $240 million.
This is a gap of $90 million at least, between the Yankees’ $150 million and Snell’s demanded salary. Furthermore, the rotation struggled last year with many pitchers underperforming. Now, as the New York Yankees add Stroman, everything has to go perfectly.

Carlos Rodon and Nestor Cortes Jr. need to have massive comeback seasons while Stroman has to remain injury free. Furthermore, Gerrit Cole has to be at his usual ace level.
