The offseason is all about signings that can make a mark. This is why a lot of competition exists in the market for multiple players. Notably, the list also includes San Diego Padres’ Juan Soto, who became the prime target of the New York Yankees. However, according to a recent update, there seems to be a disagreement between the two parties that has left a door open for other teams to join the race to strike a deal.
Soto has always been the eyes of teams looking to strengthen offense and defense. But the aura of the Bronx always pulled the player. The New York Yankees have always been interested in signing Juan Soto. The reason was their need for a constant contributor to the squad, which the 25-year-old fulfilled. Notably, Juan Soto’s sweepstakes have always been the talk of the town, not only for his skills but for his contract. Currently, in his last year of arbitration, the outfielder is expected to earn $33 million. But given the demand, the rise was expected, as projected by many, it may go to $400 million in a multi-year deal, having already declined a 15-year, $440 million contract with the Nationals in 2022. But it seems the Padres are making sure it profits them more, all thanks to their demand.
