The New York Yankees have always been interested in signing Juan Soto. The reason was their need for a constant contributor to the squad, which the 25-year-old fulfilled. However, it all left on the cost of signing, all thanks to his existing contract. To come to an understanding, the Yankees and Padres held conversations, but they have stalled.

Due to this, the door has opened for other teams. According to the reports, Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays have noted the same to join the fight for Soto. But given that they had not shown whole-hearted interest in the past, this inclusion raises many questions: Did San Diego allow this to happen intentionally?

Notably, Juan Soto’s sweepstakes have always been the talk of the town, not only for his skills but for his contract. Currently, in his last year of arbitration, the outfielder is expected to earn $33 million. But given the demand, the rise was expected, as projected by many, it may go to $400 million in a multi-year deal, having already declined a 15-year, $440 million contract with the Nationals in 2022. But it seems the Padres are making sure it profits them more, all thanks to their demand.

Notably, the conversation has stalled between New York and San Diego for a reason. According to reports, the Padres demanded multiple players plus cash from Soto. It includes Michael King, Drew Thorpe, and other prospects for Soto. As the outfielder is expected to sign only a one-year deal, the Yankees denied the request.
