“I think he’s in here with something to prove,” said the team manager, Aaron Boone, when asked about the performance of the youngster Clayton Beeter, who showcased exceptionality in the Thursday game against the Miami Marlins. He was on the edge of being promoted to the big leagues in the last season. Now, given his outstanding start, he is seemingly about to get the call this season.

Beeter’s better performance lets him stand out
Thursday’s game saw Beeter in an exemplifying form, throwing 47 pitches in his three innings, scattering three hits and a walk over three innings while striking out four. Though the game ended with a tie, Beeter’s impressive performance, which includes retiring two-time batting champ Luis Arraez twice, was remarkable. Moreover, he sent 33 fastballs, besides acquiring 30 out of 47 strikes, to impress his entire team.

According to Beeter, the game was a perfect scope for him to test his stuff as he stated, “It lets me know that my stuff plays and I can trust it,” referring to his tactics. After entering the Yankees troop, he initially demonstrated his prowess on the field in 2022; however, this season may carry even more value to him, as he intends to enter the starting pitchers list in the upcoming regular season.
The now 25-year-old pitcher was acquired from the Dodgers in exchange for outfielder Joey Gallo in August 2022. Fast forward to that, as part of the Yankees, he went 9-7 with a 3.62 ERA in 27 games last season for Double-A Somerset and Triple-A Scranton. Apart from that, in his 131 ⅔ innings, he permitted 105 hits and 75 walks while striking out 165.
Now, as he seems more prepared in the current season with his performance in the latest game, he has successfully gained the faith of his team.

The game was a stepping stone for Beeter to prove his efficacy in the major league. As the team’s manager Boone stated after the game, “Anytime you get off the barrel of Arraez, which he did twice — two soft contacts — right away, you saw the life of the fastball,” indicating his amazement.
