Reviving the sluggish Yankees lineup, the arrival of Jazz Chisholm Jr. is already making an impact. In recent months, starting in June, the Bronx Bombers have been on their worst stretch. Before the Philadelphia Phillies game, the team’s record of 51-22 has been among the worst in MLB. Eventually, a lineup that’s heavily dependent on Aaron Judge and Juan Soto, the addition of Jazz Chisholm Jr. has overhauled their batting lineup. A great example would be Chisholm’s recent outing against their arch-rivals on Monday night.

Against the Philadelphia Phillies, Jazz smashed two homers, cruising the Yankees to win by 14-4 at Citizens Bank Park. Nevertheless, aside from Chisholm, Aaron Judge’s contribution was vital. The Yankees captain smashed a homer in the first innings and delivered a two-run shot, extending his home run lead to 39 in the 2024 season. After the game, speaking about Chisholm’s homer and him using Judge’s bat, the Yankees captain expressed his feelings for the Yankees versatile outfielder.

Right after borrowing the bat from Aaron Judge, the Yankees aspiring prospect smashed his second homer in Pinstripes colors. Reflecting on the incident, Judge said, “That was all him kind of holding it, taking some practice swings and kind of looked at me and said, Hey, I said, Go for it, Just Make Sure you use it and he definitely did it.” Indeed, after the first home run against Phillies veteran Zack Wheeler in the second inning, Chisholm gave the Yankees a 2-0 lead.

Yet again, in the ninth, using Aaron Judge’s bat, Jazz went deep against Garrett Stubbs. As Garrett threw a 65 mph pitcher against Chisholm, the Yankees’ newest arrival smashed the ball into the right-field seats. Also, there was no need for Nick Castellanos to move even a bit as the ball went past him into the stands.

Right after his second home run for the Yankees, Jazz Chisholm Jr expressed his happiness. Revealing to the TV cameras, he was seen holding the three-time home-run champion, Aaron Judge’s bat. Even more, as Chisholm walked into the locker room, he had a big smile on his face. Speaking with the reporters post-game on Judge’s bat, he said, “Definitely not gonna use that again tomorrow. That bat was so heavy.” So, even after the humongous 388-foot homer from Aaron Judge’s bat, Jazz has hinted that he might not use the big piece of lumb anytime in the future.

Aside from Chisholm perfectly fitting in the middle offense position for the Yankees, Boone has finalized his outfield position. He will play third base as Gleyber Torres, who has recently found form, will stick to the 2B position for the Yankees. However, even if the Pinstrips found Chisholm to fill in their outfield and offense holes, Aaron Judge had concerns regarding the trade deadline.

Over the last few months, the New York Yankees have been under scrutiny. With players getting injured and blunders from outfielders like Volpe and Verdugo, the Yanks lost their #1 position in the AL East. Perhaps a thumping win against the Phillies might have made them realize their true potential. Right now, the team has got a bright prospect in the name of Chisholm Jr. The 26-year-old has shown his prowess by hitting two homers on Monday night.

Still, Aaron Judge believes the team needs more reinforcements as the trade deadline is just a few hours away. Sharing his thoughts on the MLB trade deadline, Judge said, “Other teams are making moves, so hopefully we start making moves, too.” Unsurprisingly, in the 2024 MLB season, the Yankees are majorly struggling in their offense and outfield. Especially their veteran, Gleyber Torres, has underperformed in recent times. Prior to the game against the Red Sox, Torres’s struggle seemed imminent. In his last 18 outings before getting benched, he slashed at just 159/.247/.318/.564 and was unreliable on the field.

Also, DJ Lemaheiu is another Yankees player who is out of form. The two-time batting champion’s offense average has fallen below 1.77. The two-time batting champion’s batting average had fallen all the way to .177. Comparing the hitters with 150 plate appearances, LeMaheiu averages seventh worst, along with an OPS of just .492.

Despite Chisholm Jr’s trade deal working for the Yankees, the team still has perennial struggles. Currently, the Pinstripes are 63-45 and a game behind the Orioles in the AL East. As per Aaron Judge’s advice, if the team could buy a few prospects before the trade deadline. And if the Yanks continue their dominant form against the Phillies, they could be strong contenders for the 2024 MLB playoff spot the team once missed in the 2023 season.
