Even the New York Yankees aren’t above a little mischief. Athletes often develop a sibling-like relationship that makes them behave the way anyone would. Teammates become brothers, and pranks are a common occurrence. They are also a way to relieve stress for athletes, who often play in high-pressure situations. This is exactly what happened in the recent Subway Series, wherein the Yankees lost to the Mets.

Gleyber Torres, who is although a talented player but is prone to mistakes, was having some fun with a teammate. Some fans have berated him for his recent mistakes, especially a glaring fielding error, which they are hoping he will fix as the season progresses. While his prank made some fans laugh, the Yankees player it was directed at was furious!

The Yankees vs Mets match-up was anticipated by many. It was Gerrit Cole vs Justin Verlander, both of whom performed admirably. While both teams were missing vital players from the lineup, the Buck Showalter-managed team scored an overall victory. The Yankees dugout, meanwhile, was full of laughs as Torres kept a cat toy on the railing. Why? To scare Eduardo Escobar!

To say that the third baseman is not a fan of cats would be an understatement. Yankees Videos on Twitter posted a few pictures from the dugout and also shared a video that shows Torres messing with Escobar to the fullest.

The video shows the Yankees’ third baseman running out with his bat when Torres throws a cat toy at him and even brings an actual cat at one point! It’s presumed to be real because loud purring and cat noises can be heard. Escobar certainly didn’t seem too happy about the situation, although his teammates couldn’t stop laughing.

Judge’s absence has left a hole in the team that fans think can’t be filled until he comes back. As for that, it may not happen until the All-Star break. Judge injured his toe while trying to catch a ball and crashed into the Dodger Stadium wall. While fans appreciated it then, it seems to be costing the team now.
