When it comes to die-hard fans, sometimes nothing is off-limits. Baseball is a cultural phenomenon when it comes to the land of liberty and rarely do any other sports have such loyal fans. But that doesn’t mean they won’t resort to tricks and deceptions to catch the attention of a star player. But right on the other side of that pendulum are equally heartwarming gestures that could melt anyone’s heart.

A recent interaction between Yankees manager Aaron Boone and a young fan left the kid happy and audiences charmed, even if Boone is not the most well-received manager  of the time. Because let’s be honest, a person in a higher position sometimes has to make tough decisions that may not look like much to the rest of the world. But ultimately, they’re just trying their best. And this moment proved Boone can be nice too!

In the recent Grapefruit League game of Yankees vs. Pirates, in which the Pinstripes won by a landslide, a kid came to Boone in the dugout. Asking for a baseball if he defeated the manager in a game of Rock Paper Scissors, he challenged Boone. The 49-year-old wanted to know what he would get if he won, and the boy offered his blue hat. And so the game began.

Care to guess the outcome? Boone won. When the boy offered his hat without question, Boone just placed a baseball in it. The kid looked to his mother a little ways off as if to ask her if this was really happening. And he went on his way, a souvenir from a Yankees game he would probably never forget. All because of Aaron Boone.

What did fans have to say about this sweet moment?

Sure, Boone gets his fair share of hatred and aggressive comments from people who think they could do his job better than him. But heartwarming moments bring fans together unlike anything else, and as expected, they exploded with warm comments on Twitter.
