It’s true what they say – talent runs in the blood. Derek Jeter is one of the best baseball players this generation has seen. A five-time World Series champion, the former shortstop left his mark on the game when he retired after a successful twenty-season career. Everyone from his teammates to his rivals to his fans respected him, not only for his talent but for the humility he exuded.
He credits is it all to his parents. Dorothy and Dr. Sanderson Jeter played a big part in who Derek is today. Even his love for baseball comes from his dad, who played the sport in college. The former Yankee promised his father he would one day play in the big ballparks and he kept it. Now that he’s retired, the senior Jeter’s love has been passed down to the younger generation.

Jalen Jeter is doing his own kind of spring training! Derek Jeter’s own kids are still a little young, but a love for baseball clearly runs in the family. Sharlee Jeter recently posted a story on her Instagram – the video shows her son playing catch with his grandpa, wearing a baseball mitt in one hand. She captioned the video, “Best Grandpa ever! #Spring Training” with a gif that said, “Love you Grandpa”. And this isn’t the first time the young Jeter has left the internet in awe!
Since late February and March are the designated months for training before the regular season starts, MLB teams are in full practice mode. But Jalen Jeter apparently didn’t wanna be left behind and did his own training! Sharlee’s next story showed the grandpa-grandkid duo posing together in front of a baseball field. The caption read, “This kid has had an amazing Spring Break with Lola and Grandpa…”

The younger Jeter is not to be left behind – she’s currently the President of Derek Jeter’s Turn 2 Foundation and is doing some good in the field of social work. Ever since taking up the position in 2010, she has taken the organization to new heights through her hard work.
But before she joined the Foundation in this role, she used to play softball. Jeter started playing in school and continued throughout her college years, even after a scary cancer diagnosis. It was her dream to attend Michigan State University and eventually play in the Olympics.
