New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter was always on board for doing charities. He would do so even if it meant selling his personal gear for the benefit of people. There were many traits of the five times World Series Champion that made him one of the most admired players of his generation. But the ones that stood out the most were his drive, focus, talent, and a good amount of stubbornness.

Jeter became Rookie of the season in 1996. The same year, his father, Dr. Charles Jeter, created the ‘Turn 2 Foundation’ to motivate young people to turn away from drugs and alcohol and “Turn 2” healthy lifestyles. From the start of his career, the shortstop was pretty focused on what he wanted to do in his life besides playing baseball. He worked for it and raised money for charity to help youngsters have a better chance at life.

Derek Jeter would never stay calm if something happened to this personal item

To raise money for the Turn 2 Foundation, Derek Jeter often used to sell his game-used bats and gear through Steiner Sports Memorabilia and raised over $250,000 a year to help the noble cause.

But there was one thing that he never sold. Neither did he ever intend to sell it. It was his gloves. They were always kept safe and away in his locker, and even the head of the memorabilia company, Brandon Steiner, knew how much those gloves mattered to him.

“I know those gloves are very personal,” said Steiner, as quoted in the book, ‘The Captain – The journey of Derek Jeter’ by Ian O’Connor.

There were many things that Jeter never got concerned about, but of the very few things he was, he could not let anybody tamper with them. His gloves were one of those things.
