“My number one priority was on the field. I’ve had fun. It’s not like I’ve never gone out; I’ve done a lot of things. But I’ve always kept sight of my number one priority,” confessed Jeter in an interview with Esquire in 2011.

He also talked about many players who came to NYC and got caught up in the lifestyle. And then, they got drafted to another team because it affected their performance. But Jeter was not one of those players. Being the captain of the Pinstripes, he was the one who never broke his discipline and compromised his game. His legacy is so big that it has been over 8 years since he bid farewell to the game, and the Yankees are yet to find someone as capable as him to name their captain.
