Baseball legend Derek Jeter, was indeed one of a kind athlete that the big leagues have ever seen. Now, it’s been over eight years since Captain Clutch bid adieu to the game he loved so dearly. But Derek Jeter’s fame has only remained the same, if not increased with time. During his storied career, Jeter earned countless accolades to his name, including multiple Gold Glove Awards, Silver Slugger Awards, Hank Aaron Awards, and many others. Despite this, and being one of the best shortstops in MLB history, Jeter faced his fair share of criticism from fans and baseball players.
One of the athletes to criticize the 5x World Series winner would be Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa. A couple of years back, Correa said some harsh words about the Hall of Famer. However, when Captain Clutch got asked about the same, he replied to those comments with grace.

Derek Jeter, in his storied baseball career of over two decades, proved that he was a patient athlete. No matter what happened, Jeter always handled everything with class. And that remains the same today. It is precisely what he did when the stained athlete Carlos Correa, said that Derek Jeter did not deserve any of the five Gold Glove awards he earned in his career.
However, when Jeter was asked about the same in an interview two years back, his answer was a sleek reply to Correa’s comments.
Talking about what he thought of Correa’s words about him, Jeter said, “I didn’t think much about it. I don’t know how my name came up. My Spanish is not that good. I still haven’t seen it. I don’t know how my name was brought up, but it doesn’t even warrant a response.”
Correa had earned the title of being a stained athlete because of getting accused of cheating on multiple occasions. Notably, Jeter could have handled Carlos Correa trash-talking him in many other ways. But he chose the most classiest way possible, all with a smile on his face.

This was not the first time Jeter’s name came up in conversation out of nowhere
Back in the year 2000, when Alex Rodriguez had signed the most significant contract in MLB’s history, something similar happened with Jeter. A-Rod was then asked about the names of players who he thought could break his record.
Out of nowhere, A-Rod said that anyone can, but not Derek Jeter. It was much more brutal when it happened in 2000 because A-Rod and Jeter were supposed to be best friends. Whereas Jeter probably wouldn’t have known much about Correa in 2021.
