Alex Rodriguez was an elite hitter in the ballparks. No doubt about that. But apart from being a great ballplayer, A-Rod has also been an incredible businessman. But the success in his post-retirement career has not come overnight.

Unlike every other young athlete, A-Rod started making real estate investments from the early days of his professional career. When A-Rod was just a 20-year-old rookie, he started to think about his future in the next 10 or 20 years. Something that not every athlete does.

A-Rod knew he had to do something different to be in a different league. And when one looks at the present scenario, the former Yankee is one of the wealthiest and a successful businessmen in the sporting world. Dating back to 2020, four years after his retirement, Alex Rodriguez opened up about what made him start focusing on the business at such a young age.

Alex Rodriguez had the vision to think ten years ahead of his present

Per Franchise Times, Alex Rodriguez revealed how he started to think about a larger picture. A-Rod wanted to be a successful baseball player and also a CEO. Per A-Rod, he did not want to end up like several athletes who went from the penthouse to the outhouse in a day because of some injuries.

And he definitely did not want something similar to happen to him. That is why he planned a parallel career. And eventually, it proved to be a masterstroke for the former Yankee.

“I simply started out of fear. I’ve always had this dream that I wanted to be a major league baseball player. And I wanted to be a CEO, ever since I was very young,” Alex Rodriguez revealed.

“I remember when I was probably in my rookie year, I started to think about life after baseball. I saw so many people in various sports get injured on a Monday; And go from the penthouse to the outhouse in hours or days. I did not want that to happen to me.”

And thanks to his perfect planning, A-Rod is minting dollars in his post-retirement career. His current net worth is $400 million.
