His hunger for winning games led the New York Yankees to achieve a new high in Major League Baseball. In Jeter’s own words, if one wants to become successful in any field, one must be passionate about that thing. And the Yankees legend expects the same from his children.
Derek Jeter wants his kids to find the thing on their own they feel passionate about
Recently, the MLB Hall of Famer, and a 5-time World Champion, Derek Jeter, sat for an exclusive interview with Angie Martinez, on her podcast; where Jeter discussed several aspects of his personal and professional life.
While doing so, the Yankees legend also said one cannot make someone be passionate about something. It is a thing that the next person has to find on their own. The Yankee legend even said he would want his kids to find something they are passionate about so that they can also become successful.
“I think, in order to be successful in anything, you have to first be passionate about it. If you are not passionate about it, you are not going to work at it, you are not going to put the time into it. It’s got to mean something to you and I can’t make you be passionate about it…,” Derek Jeter said.
“You talk about playing with teammates. I want to win more than anyone, but I can’t make you win it either… One thing I talk about is having three kids and I am joking with them now, “what do you want to be when you get older?” But I want them to find the thing that they are passionate about.”
