It’s not a good year for Bronx baseball. The New York Yankees have faced stretches of bad times but they’ve always bounced back up. This year, the club seems to have imploded in on itself. While the Yankees are known for the sheer number of titles they hold, they’re on the wrong side of history in 2023.

It seems like no one can understand what’s exactly going on or provide a concrete solution to all the problems playing the pinstripes. Injuries to multiple players are understandable; sometimes that’s just how things work. But a fully-functioning defense collapsing at the same time is nothing but disastrous. Yesterday’s loss to the Atlanta Braves, however expected, only added more fuel to fire up already frustrated fans.

Frankly, no one was expecting the Yankees, who have been trailing the bottom of the AL East for months, to defeat the NL East-leading Braves. But an 11-3 loss with another terrible start from Clay Holmes, who was on fire only a few weeks ago, is too much to take.

For a team aspiring to trade for Shohei Ohtani once, whose owners still believe a World Series is possible in 2023, frustrated fans have questions. Even the captain’s return has failed to raise spirits when all hopes were pinned on Aaron Judge. The Yankees are currently in sole possession of the last place in their division through their last 95+ games. The last time this happened was in 1990.

It was the Bronx Bombers’ third straight loss in as many games after they blew their last two games against the Marlins. August is already at its halfway point, and the pressure is on for the wild card race. But instead of standing up to fight, the Yankees are crumbling.

No wonder fans want the season to end early since they’d rather the team didn’t play at all than keep up the embarrassing play.

Bronx Fans Want No Part of This Season

There’s no one more loyal than the Bronx but there’s also no one more unforgiving. Amid a few performances to put smiles on fans’ faces, smattered in more often than not are losses rather than victories. To many, enough is enough.

One pointed out the disaster that will be Luis Severino pitching against the Braves tomorrow.

Some cursed the front office for their inefficiency.

Sevy may be scheduled to start tomorrow but judging from his performance this summer, things are not looking good. Yankee fans will once again watch the game at Truist Park with heavy hearts tonight.
