Jackie Robinson Day just passed by, and the entire MLB celebrated the baseball icon who changed the game. Be it his stellar play or his fight for the African American community, Robinson is remembered as a legend. Most recently, New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge honored the icon with a game-day gesture. 

Jackie Robinson Day is celebrated on the 15th of April, with every player wearing #42 to honor him. Judge took it one step further in the Yankees’ recent game against the Minnesota Twins. He honored Robinson with a special gesture during the game. 

Aaron Judge wore customized cleats to honor Jackie Robinson on his special day

Like all MLB stars, Aaron Judge wore the #42 jersey in honor of Jackie Robinson Day. But the Yankees; captain took it one step further by wearing specialized cleats as well. He wore shoes with the number 42 on them, to honor Robinson in his own way. Judge wore these customized cleats during the Bronx Bombers’ most recent game against the Minnesota Twins. YES Network shared a Tweet showing Judge rocking the cleats on game day. 

In the Tweet, YES Network said, “Aaron Judge’s Jackie Robinson Day cleats #Jackie42”. This was a personal gesture from the Yankees’ captain to honor Robinson on his special day. The cleats seemed to be a good luck charm as the Bombers were able to break a two-game losing streak.

Judge led the Yankees to a 6-1 win following back-to-back losses against the Twins. It is a much-needed win for the team as they climb toward the top of the AL East. They currently sit in third place despite a strong start to the season for Judge. 

Judge is thriving this season

Aaron Judge is thriving to start the 2023 MLB season. Be it his batting, fielding, or captaincy, the star right fielder is performing well so far. He has carried on his great form since last season. Judge’s captaincy has been great, with him doing his best to make his teammates comfortable. Recently, he splurged on a big gift for Anthony Volpe, to bond with him off the field.
