Judge’s impressive skills and commanding presence on the field have many comparing him to some of the above-mentioned Yankees greats. But the Yankees captain is humble enough to keep himself out of the comparison. However, Judge recognizes that he still has a long way to go before he can truly be considered among the all-time greats.

SiriusXM, where Aaron Judge was asked about being mentioned in the same sentence as baseball legends like Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, DiMaggio, and Roger Maris. But the reigning AL MVP couldn’t help but feel a sense of shock and humility.

He acknowledged that these are the names that are synonymous with greatness, not only in the world of baseball but in the world at large. Seeing them emblazoned on World Series stadiums and on the ranks of baseball’s all-time greats is a constant reminder of the weight of their legacy.

Despite his own impressive career, Judge humbly stated that he is only just beginning his journey with baseball and that being mentioned alongside such legends is something he will never take for granted.

Here’s what he said, “It’s a shock you know, the names you mentioned – Roger Maris, Babe Ruth, …. The list goes on and on, these are the guys you know you see all around Yankee stadium with World Series rings, World Series championships.” He continued, “those are legends, those are Yankee legends, baseball greats, how could I ever be mentioned with those guys? I’m just starting my career, I’m only a couple of years in”

He emphasized that he was just a regular guy who wakes up every day, determined to help the Yankees win and that he never sees himself on the same level as Ruth and Maris and the other Yankee legends. It’s an honor that he will always find humbling and motivating. 

Are Aaron Judge and Babe Ruth that different? 

Babe Ruth’s name is synonymous with baseball greatness, having held the record of home run king seven times. His highest record was 60 home runs in a single season. But Aaron Judge bested the record with historic 62 home runs last season.

However, Babe Ruth’s impact on the game of baseball extends far beyond the number of home runs he hit. He was an iconic player who helped to popularize the sport and his legacy still echoes today. When one thinks of the New York Yankees, Ruth’s name is likely one of the first that comes to mind. It remains to be seen if Judge will become just as legendary or even surpass Babe Ruth’s legacy in the archives of baseball history and continue on the Yankees’ legacy.
