Celebrated New York Mets manager Buck Showalter is showing fans his funnier side. Known for his talent for turning baseball teams into postseason contenders in no time at all, Showalter certainly knows his stuff. Along with owner Steve Cohen, the 66-year-old has managed to take the Mets to new heights. But in addition to his skills in the front office, Showalter has a humorous side to him as well. And he recently directed it at his team’s pitcher Carlos Carrasco.
Carrasco has been something of a wild card ever since the Mets acquired him in 2021. During spring training that year, a hamstring injury led him to miss some of the first part of the season. When he did step up to the mound, his performance was not on par with what was expected. While 2022 was better, the 35-year-old is still in hot water with fans. But Showalter, at least, is throwing around some good-humored jokes about his personal life.

For someone nicknamed Cookie, Carrasco sure had a distressing incident in the kitchen recently. One would think he knew how to handle sharp objects, but according to Showalter, that is not the case. The sports network SNY recently shared a video of the manager making cheeky gestures to show reporters exactly which finger Carrasco had injured with a knife.
Buck Showalter says that Carlos Carrasco cut his finger cutting up some vegetables yesterday and added that he wouldn't have had to cut up a hot dog 🤣 pic.twitter.com/KEy5cAs6GF

What was Carrasco doing with a knife, one asks? Cutting up vegetables! Those who cook regularly know how easy it is to go through what the pitcher experienced. One loses focus for even a single moment and alas, there’s blood sprouting from a place on their finger they didn’t think they could even cut.
To make matters funnier, Showalter referred to New York’s world-famous dish that doesn’t require a knife to make or eat. That’s right, a hot dog!
What did Mets fans have to say about the incident?
Sharing screenshots from the video, Twitter users had no dearth of replies. Making memes out of the supposed gestures Showalter was making, Mets fans had a great time trolling their rival teams. And even had jokes at Showalter and Carrasco’s expense.
