Shortly after the New York Yankees outbid the Giants, and Aaron Judge landed in the Big Apple, another New York team, almost outbid the Giants to sign superstar shortstop Carlos Correa. But seemingly, that outbid isn’t working out for the frustrated New York Mets, who stand at a stalemate with Carlos Correa. On the other hand, the 2017 World Champion’s agent, Scott Boras, has resumed talks with his previous team, the Minnesota Twins.
As reported by Dan Hayes and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, amidst a falling trajectory of positive talks with the Orange and Blue, talks about a possible Twins-Correa reunion have come back into the picture.

Shortstop Carlos Correa, at the tender age of 20, made his debut with the Houston Astros in 2015. After six years with the Astros, Correa entered free agency. And signed a three-year contract worth $105.3 million with the Twins after winning the Golden Glove, Platinum Glove, and Fielding Bible in 2021.

After fulfilling a single year of his contract with the Twins, Correa opted out, thereby returning to the free market. In the ensuing, and ongoing offseason of 2023, the two-time All-Star received an opulent 13-year contract worth $350 million from the Giants. Despite this monumental acquisition, there remained certain lingering apprehensions regarding Correa’s right ankle. This concern extended to the Giants backing out, and the shortstop receiving a reduced, 11-year deal worth $315 million from the Mets.
However, the same right ankle concern resurfaced after his physical with the Queens. And now, if the most recent rumors are to be believed, Correa is back in talks with the Twins. As reported by Rosenthal and Davis, “the possibility of a stunning reunion between Carlos Correa and the Twins is increasing.”

Here’s the deal:
Heyman and Rosenthal are basically Boras speaking.
Baerga is Correa speaking to like buddies.
All the other little leaks are suspect at best so just ignore em.

So the very creative Twins come up with “performance based bonuses”? I’m pretty sure the Mets would love to put those in Correa’s deal. There’s nothing innovative about that. 🤔
