Injuries and poor form have massively impacted the New York Mets’ season. With key players such as Edwin Diaz, Justin Verlander, and others missing time with injury, the team has suffered. Furthermore, certain players have failed to live up to expectations. Most recently, fans expressed mixed reactions as a former Mets player excelled with his new team. 

This is a particularly rough situation for the team as one of their former players is thriving in a new environment. Fans are also unhappy with the situation and have expressed mixed reactions. It serves as a slap in the face for the New York-based team. 

Former New York Mets flop Gary Sanchez is excelling with the San Diego Padres

Earlier this year, the Mets parted ways with Gary Sanchez. This seemed like a move that would put his career in jeopardy. But the San Diego Padres signed him off waivers and since then everything has changed. Sanchez has excelled in his new uniform and is having a great time in San Diego. His batting numbers in particular have been surprising as he overcame his bad form. Furthermore, it is only a couple of years removed from his departure from the New York Yankees. MLB shared a Tweet focusing on the statistics that Sanchez has put up with the Padres. 

In a Tweet, they said, “Gary Sánchez has been raking since getting to San Diego. He already has 6 home runs in just 13 games for the @Padres”. This has been a massive improvement as he went from being an outcast on the Mets to a star contributor on the Padres. Furthermore, the Mets are now suffering with their superstar Pete Alonso suffering from injury.

The reactions to Sanchez’s form have been mixed. 

Some fans said that it’s the form of a player who leaves New York. 

Other fans are happy about his progress.

The Mets will be disappointed but they made a decision based on his form at the time. No one could have predicted such a massive improvement in his play. But he is not the only player to leave New York and excel, Aaron Hicks has also been on a roll since leaving the Yankees. 

The Mets are experiencing some rough form at the moment

It has been a difficult season for the Mets thus far, with injuries interfering and results not going their way. Their star pitcher Justin Verlander is struggling to perform. Furthermore, one of their biggest stars, Pete Alonso, is out with an injury that could take as long as 4 weeks to heal. It will be interesting to see how their season progresses and whether they will make a comeback. Only time will tell.
