The streak of defeats for New York persists. As the Bronx Bombers face adversity, another borough is joining the lineup. The New York Mets faced a loss against the Philadelphia Phillies and are now on a 35-42 record. Their NL East division rivals continue to maintain a position above them, leading to furious Mets fans. But one fan didn’t wait for the end to show their disappointment.
Pitcher Drew Smith remains in a struggling bullpen, serving a 10-game suspension for violating MLB’s sticky substance policy. He pleaded innocent, but the umpires were convinced otherwise. Jeff Brigham and Josh Walker failed to perform well, too, with Brett Baty making a throwing error. Ultimately, the Mets lost 7-6, with the last half of the game looking completely hopeless.

Baseball parks may be huge to allow maximum watching, but seats near the diamond allow for a better display. Some Mets enthusiasts mocked the team, saying a true Mets fan wouldn’t leave because, to them, this is classic behavior.
“Fake fan. Real Mets fans are used to losing.”
“Pretty much summed up the Mets season to this point. Poor guy.”

Kodai Senga, one of the best pitchers in the league, is on a four-day leave and will only return Wednesday. Drew Smith’s last game suspension has been served, so fans are hopeful he can come back to do some damage. His roster spot went without a replacement because as manager Buck Showalter said, “We only have ‘X’ number of pitchers to go to.”
