“Never Underestimate Them…”: Alex Rodriguez Shares a Valuable Lesson He Learned During His Journey as a Father

Alex Rodriguez is a father before anything else. The New York Yankees legend has been a dedicated parent, especially after retiring from baseball. During his time as a parent, A-Rod has learned a lot of different things. Most recently, he shared an important lesson that he learned about children from his experience with two daughters.

Rodriguez is a doting father and regularly expresses his pride at what his children are growing up to be. But the New York Yankees legend also seems to be learning important lessons from them and other children. 

Alex Rodriguez says that adults shouldn’t underestimate children

Alex Rodriguez has deep ties to The Boys and Girls Club of America that started with his childhood. Mostwc . recently, he gave a speech at one of their events and talked about children and their potential. He mentioned that although he struggles with computers, kids are wizards with technology. Rodriguez then said that adults should not look down on kids as they are smarter. But the crux of his point was to never underestimate them and to interact with them. A person at the event shared a snippet of A-Rod saying this on Instagram. 

During the short statement, Rodriguez said, “I barely know how to turn on a computer. But they’re like little wizards on these computers, right? Um, you know think of them as partners, think of them as collaborators. A lot of times, we speak down to children and children are smarter than us, I’m telling you. They really are. They see the world from a whole different place, never underestimate them. Spend time, talk to them, create a safe environment to communicate.”

This is a wise statement, as Rodriguez himself has been through some major milestones with his two daughters. His eldest daughter Natasha is going to college at the University of Michigan. Ella, his younger child, is a freshman in High School. Although the Yankees legend has learned from his daughters, they also make him nervous. 

A-Rod’s daughters make him nervous

During a recent appearance on the Club30 podcast, Alex Rodriguez talked about business, his baseball career, parenthood, and other topics. When asked about what makes him nervous, the millionaire businessman mentioned his daughters. A-Rod then clarified by saying that the experiences that his daughters are going through are what makes him nervous. He said that being a father is the most important thing in the world.
