Baseball is finally back as the World Baseball Classic signals the beginning of competitive play. Fans have been waiting throughout the off-season with the start of the regular season inching closer. Furthermore, the Classic is a special occurrence with many stars trying to win glory for their home nations. The fight to take home the trophy will be intense, with several nations considered favorites.

Many fans are excited that the pitch clock is not at the WBC. This is one rule change that has polarized supporters. But baseball fans were begging for the clock in place of this Cuban supporter’s celebratory sound at the WBC.

Baseball fans are unhappy with a Cuban fan’s horn celebration

Baseball fans are excited as the World Baseball Classic is underway. Most recently, a Cuban fan blared a horn during the Cuba-Netherlands game at the WBC, disturbing other supporters. They did it to celebrate a strikeout. FOX Sports: MLB shared a video of the horn being blared on Twitter, dubbing it the strikeout horn. 

In the Tweet, FOX Sports: MLB said, “Ladies and gentlemen, introducing the strikeout horn”. This is a new celebration that is loud and abrupt, getting the attention of players and fans alike. It is also very distracting.

Fans have expressed their thoughts on the new noisy celebration, and they are unhappy. Some have expressed their displeasure at the disruptive sound. Others have begged for it to stop. One fan went as far as to say they’d muted the TV.

It will be interesting to see whether this Cuban fan’s horn continues to feature at the Classic. If it does, many fans will pray that it doesn’t find its way to the Major League this season. Many fans have been waiting for it to start, hoping that their nation wins.

The World Baseball Classic winner is hard to predict

The World Baseball Classic is hard to predict this year, with a handful of teams looking strong enough to win. The Dominican Republic, USA, Japan, and Puerto Rico are the favorites, with a couple of other teams considered dark horses.
