Shohei Ohtani is indeed the most shining baseball star of the recent MLB world. During his 6-year career, he has achieved multiple achievements that show his dedication towards his aim. Shohei Ohtani’s journey from Japan to the USA took a lot of dedication and effort from his side. However, the Sho-time never complained about any price that he had to pay for this. He never distinguished between himself and other boys; instead, when he was already popular enough to show his stardom, he even cleaned the toilets of their dorm.
The book, Sho-Time: The Inside Story of Shohei Ohtani recorded his journey with minute details. On page 23 of the book, the author describes the time when Ohtani was already getting fame for his performance and becoming a local superhero. It was his high school days, and his coach Sasaki Hiroshi tightly held every boy on his team, including Ohtani, from going off-track. He even let them do works that keep him grounded, as the book records, “The players in his program lived in dorms for most of the year, with each player responsible for certain chores around the facilities. The pitchers, including Ohtani, were responsible for keeping the toilets clean.“
It was solely to keep their unity, so none could think of himself as superior to others. The coach himself admitted, “Once they get up there, they are at the pinnacle, so for the rest of the day I tell them, ‘You have to do the lowest job.’” However, the Two-Way Phenom “never complained” about it. He cleaned the toilets and did all the dorm work he was assigned to.
