After winning the National League Cy Young Award in 2020 with the Cincinnati Reds, Trevor Bauer made the decision to move to the West Coast and signed a whopping $102 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers for three years. The Dodgers knew Bauer’s ability on the mound and were willing to look past his controversial reputation. However, that caught up with the Dodgers and the 2018 All-Star, who was put on administrative leave in July 2021 after an investigation opened into sexual assault allegations against him. Eventually, the MLB suspended the ace for 324 games.

However, in December 2022, his suspension was reduced to 194 games, allowing him to start the 2023 season from the beginning. But the Los Angeles Dodgers designated him on assignment and finally released him. Moreover, no other MLB team seemingly wanted to get their hands on Bauer, despite his ability on the mound. Consequently, Trevor Bauer signed a $4 million deal in the Japanese NPB with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars, a Central League team.
