In the interview, Michael Jordan spoke about why he selected Derek Jeter as the lead endorser for Brand Jordan at Nike in 1999. Jordan elaborated on Jeter’s work ethic, and what makes Jeter different from the everyday person.
Jordan said, “I love his work ethic,” before moving on to talk about the time he met Jeter during his break from basketball in 1994. Notably, MJ tried his hand at baseball and played in the minor leagues.
He met Jeter while playing in the Arizona Fall League and said, “He has a great attitude. He has the qualities that separate superstars from everyday people. And a lot of it is attributable to his great family background.”
