Legendary MLB player Alex Rodriguez, who currently owns Minnesota Timberwolves, has a deep love for basketball. He often registers his presence during the NBA games. Recently, when Rodriguez attended an NBA playoffs game between Miami Heat and Boston Celtics, he was pictured alongside the T-Wolves superstar Anthony Edwards.

Given that he is the co-owner of the Timberwolves, the world believed his meeting was as a mentor. Though contradicting the perception, Rodriguez has now shared some insights into this case.

It was a complete learning experience for Alex Rodriguez

Alex has always talked about his habit of keeping learning to improve himself. He has induced this into his personality from his playing days and has taken this approach into his business approach, too. Rodriguez recently

posted a story of a video of him answering questions about his visit to the NBA playoffs along with Anthony Edwards.

He focused on building a championship team and said,

“Well, if we want to build the championship team, a championship culture, you have to go out and do your due diligence. You have to go out and study how the greats are doing it. No one is better than guys like Jerry West and Pat Riley. Lucky to have them both as mentors and friends.”

The T-Wolves co-owner also shared that it was a complete learning experience for him. He answered whether he was mentoring Edwards during this meeting and said.

“I see it the other way around. Anthony Edwards is mentoring Alex, coaching me, and watching two Miami Heat games. I learned more in two hours, even more than I have my entire life.”

Rodriguez then talked about some of the NBA players whose vision, commitment, grit, and grind made them NBA greats. He added Edwards holds all these characteristics of being a phenomenal talent, but his great nature puts him ahead of the rest!

Meanwhile, Rodriguez has started preparing for the next season. Given that the Timberwolves could not make it to the next round in the playoffs, they want to address the shortcomings. This comes after Timberwolves made it to the playoffs for the second consecutive time under Rodriguez’s co-ownership!

A look into the Minnesota Timberwolves deal

Rodriguez and Marc Lore bought a 20% stake in the Minnesota Timberwolves. The deal is worth $1.5 billion and is to be completed in three installments. They made their first down payment in July 2021 for $250 million. With the second payment in March this year, they now have a 40% stake and are on the path of assuming majority control in 2024.
