The New York Yankees are having one of the poorest seasons in history. The team is in its worst run form since 1995 and is in a state where a positive can not be expected. The only bright spot in their picturesque frame is Captain Aaron Judge. The outfielder has been the sole light of inspiration for the club, but Judge is not satisfied. Now, he’s helping the team with his latest move, even after an embarrassing encounter with NBA legend Michael Jordan.

Though the Yankees have not done well, there has been no impact on Judge’s popularity. And because of it, he became the latest entrant to the list of MLB athletes with their exclusive Air Jordan cleats. But in an effort to follow the previous captain, Derek Jeter‘s legacy, Judge is bringing back an old ritual that helped him during his steep rise to fame.

Aaron Judge has been a star ever since his MLB debut. He is one of the few MLB players who have found continuous success in a short period. The world can credit much of it to his hard work and dedication. But given human nature, sometimes pregame rituals and superstitions play a significant role in success. And Judge is no exception to it, as he followed a habit that helped him homer out of the park.

A resurfaced tweet from 2017 reads how Judge used to have Dubble Bubble chewing gum before every first pitch. And if he got a hit, he chewed those two pieces of gum until he got out. The outfielder has brought back that superstition not as chewing gum but in his latest shoes, Double Gum.

The Yankees shared Instagram stories related to it, where Judge could be seen practicing wearing Double Gums. Though he might not wear it during competitive games, its presence could prosper the Yankees’ fate.

Will Judge’s Latest Move Help the Yankees?

The New York Yankees are in dire need of wins. And they would be happy to accept everything that could help them, even if it comes as superstitions. The same superstition helped Judge manage the pressure on the plate, he could use it to help the team.

Though will it work? The answer lies in the Yankees’ performances in the upcoming games. They can’t lose anymore as they trail seven games behind the wild card spot. Given that they’ve already lost one game to the Boston Red Sox, which is already not in the best form, they can use it to recover from their consecutive losses.
