Alex Rodriguez, driven by his love for the business industry, has consistently expressed his desire to own a team. In 2021, five years after retiring from baseball, this aspiration became a reality as he submitted a bid for the New York Mets. Unfortunately, Steve Cohen’s bid was successful. And ultimately, A-Rod and fellow billionaire Marc Lore went on to acquire the Minnesota Timberwolves and its WNBA franchise instead.

Since A-Rod took over in 2021, the Timberwolves managed to make it to the Opening Round of the NBA for only the second time in two decades. This year, despite a slow start, the ex-Yankees slugger’s Timberwolves have slowly started climbing up the Western Conference ladder.

With 26 wins and 25 losses, the Timberwolves stand at the eighth position of the Western Conference at 0.510, level with the Golden State Warriors, and with the postseason still being quite far away, the Timberwolves hold a strong chance to return to the season and find a way to the top six.

Correspondingly, Rodriguez reached into his Instagram handle with a short video featuring the Timberwolves, with a special message for his team. He said, “I?ll never take this for granted, living out lifelong dreams watching our @timberwolves

Ever since A-Rod’s broadcasting role in the MLB postseason came to an end, he has been frequently traveling to Minnesota, and with his Timberwolves on the road.

A-Rod’s second innings:

Since retiring in 2016, A-Rod has focused all his attention on A-Rod Corp. Initially delving into real estate, his most significant investments since then have been in the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Waldorf Hotel in Washington D.C.
