Why did A-Rod buy stakes in the Timberwolves?

A year before trying to buy the Timberwolves, the MLB icon Alex Rodriguez tried to buy the baseball team he watched the most while growing up, the New York Mets. He tried to do so with Marc Lore and his ex-fiancee Jennifer Lopez by his side.

Even though that deal collapsed, the hunger in A-Rod to become the owner of a sports team wasn’t going away. Thus he went ahead and bought the Timberwolves by owning only 20% at first, and the rest later.
