Los Angeles Angels are currently tying for the longest playoff drought in the MLB. The last time that they made the postseason was in 2014. Despite having two of the best players in the world, Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani, the Angels have been unable to compete against the MLB heavyweights. However, if reports are true, then there is some good news for the Angels fans.

Though currently, MLB is going through its offseason, it’s not about any new signing or Shohei Ohtani’s extension. The owner of the 6-time NBA champion Golden State Warriors is reportedly interested in buying the AL side. 

Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob is showing interest in buying the Los Angeles Angels

According to recent reports, Joe Lacob, the owner of the Golden State Warriors, has shown interest in buying the Los Angeles Angels. A Tweet shared by theScore confirms the Warriors owners’ interest. In the Tweet, theScore said, “Warriors owner Joe Lacob might be interested in the Angels. 👀” 

They also shared a statement made by Lacob on The TK Show, a podcast hosted by Tim Kawakami. While on The TK Show, Lacob said this at 28:38 “It’s been reported that we’re looking at it, and that’s true. I don’t know what we’re going to do yet, I grew up there, it’s a little bit of an attraction for me, I was a peanut vendor for seven years. I lived a mile from that stadium. That stadium’s been around for a long time. I’ve always felt that it had great possibilities.”

Fans have reacted to the Tweet and are generally excited by the possibility of having new owners. Many fans are excited by the prospect of new owners and a change in the Angels organization. 

Above all, if Lacob buys the team, fans may be able to experience the postseason again. Furthermore, it may even help keep Shohei Ohtani from leaving, as some experts predict he will. On the whole, it would be a huge deal if Lacob buys the Angels.
