Derek Jeter and Kobe preferred to speak more about their personal lives

Recently, the New York Yankees legend appeared on renowned media personality Angie Martinez’s podcast and discussed several aspects of his personal and professional life. While doing so, Derek Jeter also opened up about his special relationship with the late NBA legend Kobe Bryant.

It was quite surprising when Jeter said neither of them ever spoke about their game. Instead, they preferred to talk about families and personal lives. Jeter also admitted that he was not close with Kobe before retirement.

“We never had a conversation about baseball or basketball… It was all family related. I used to get on him because he had so many girls [daughters] right?… And then you know, here I am, with three of my own,” Derek Jeter said to Angie Martinez.

“So, it’s just amazing how you remember conversations and interactions with people you admire, people for what they have done in their profession. But getting a chance to actually get to know them is what stands out to me. Not what you necessarily do on the basketball court or baseball field is who you are as a person.”

Jeter and Kobe had a similar career-record

Even though most of Jeter and Kobe’s fans have noticed this, the two have identical career records. Both played for a single franchise throughout their professional careers. They also won five championships for their respective franchises.
