Derek Jeter Once Had Then Girlfriend Hannah Davis & ‘Brother’ Michael Jordan Take Up a Bone-Chilling Challenge in a Rare Break From Character

During any of his relationships, the Yankees legend Derek Jeter has not shown any signs of public affection in any manner whatsoever. But this was not the case with his now-wife, Hannah Davis. In 2012, shortly after meeting via their mutual friend, the now-married couple started dating. They kept their relationship under wraps for a whole two years. Then Jeter showed affection in the most discreet way possible. They have hardly made any public appearances in the first two years of them as a couple.

Then, in August 2014, came the day when Jeter talked about Davis, even if it was to urge her for taking up a challenge. In order to be discreet, he mentioned his ‘brother’, NBA legend Michael Jordan, to also take up the challenge that he was about to complete. 

Derek Jeter did it for a cause

To raise funds for the development of a new drug, Derek did the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. It was for the treatment of the rare neurological disease named after the former baseball player Lou Gehrig. However, it is still unclear who challenged Derek Jeter to do the challenge. He then challenged a few people close to him to do the same for the benefit of people. 

Before actually pouring the bucket of ice on him, he said that he wanted to challenge a couple of people for doing it. And the first name that came out of his mouth was his then-girlfriend, Supermodel Hannah Davis. He said, “I got to challenge a couple of people. Hannah Davis, Kevin Connolly, and Michael Jordan.”

Then as he said okay, two people behind him holding the bucket full of ice poured it all on him. Naturally, he shrieked from the cold but then went on to hug the people who poured that bucket onto him. 

Jeter announced his engagement in the most subtle way possible

The platform, ‘The Player’s Tribune,’ is designed to give athletes the chance to connect with their fans. Through it, the Yankee legend, in a blog post announced his engagement.

While talking about him becoming a new dog owner, he mentioned his engagement as if it was not news. The former shortstop mentioned it as a fact known to everyone. He wrote that the dog was given as a gift to him by his ‘fiancee’. He didn’t mention anything else. But he did manage to announce his engagement discreetly as he used to handle all his private matters.
