Nestled within the bustling metropolis of New York City, the Yankees and Mets have long engaged in a fierce rivalry fueled by their proximity to one another. Though Pinstripe fans would deem the New York Mets as the lesser team, recent showings have demonstrated fierce competitiveness between the two franchises (Moreover, with billionaire Steve Cohen at the helm, the Mets have successfully lost the Bronx dubbed title – ‘poverty franchise’). Interestingly, a recent Subway Series display did not actually feature the New York Yankees or Mets but instead included former Pinstripes captain Derek Jeter, amongst other athletic superstars in the country.
As reported by Reel 360 in a piece from earlier this year, in a recent ad campaign, the food chain Subway introduced the Subway Series, a collection of their most popular sandwiches. Similar to all previous editions of the Subway Series, this one lived up to all expectations, but also brought an unexpected burst of flavor to the table.

The campaign ran various ads, one of which featured Yankees legend Derek Jeter and Golden State Warriors point guard Steph Curry.
As is visible in the ad film that recently came out, Derek Jeter metaphorically spoke about a Subway while drawing a parallel to the ballpark. He said, “That performance was legendary. They just piled it on. Roast beef ham, oven-roasted turkey. All in the Subway Club.”
In the same video, Steph Curry appears. And says, “Three-peat. That’s great. Three meat, that’s epic.”
Notably, this film is just one, amongst many, which features legendary athletes in Rob Gronkowski, Patrick Mahomes, Charles Barkley, and Tony Romo, alongside Jeter and Curry.

In 2000, after winning two successive World Series Rings, the New York Yankees met the New York Mets in the iconic Subway Series. While the Yankees continued their stunning record and won their third consecutive ring (fourth in five years), the future Yankees captain received the glorious mention of Most Valuable Player in the Series.

However, Jeter was excessively cautious and feared that losing the series to the Mets would be excessively embarrassing. The eventual 14-time All-Star also claimed that if they would’ve lost the series, he would’ve left New York for good.
