Having played only six seasons in Major League Baseball, Aaron Judge is proving that he’s in the game to achieve heights. Notably, he has already agreed upon 9-years $40 million deal with the New York Yankees. His tremendous season in the 2022 regular season helped him increase his value to a new high in his free agency.

While the Yankees camp is celebrating the Judge’s extension, a large section of media is also questioning the Yankees management whether Judge is worth of such a huge contract. However, if looking from the perspective of Magic Johnson’s massive contract, it seems like the Yankees have got a good deal.

Notably, when the NBA great Johnson signed a $25 million contract for the next 25 years in 1981, it seemed an absurd deal at first. But only a few years later, many believed that Johnson was underpaid.

How is Magic Johnson’s contract getting compared to the one Aaron Judge signed?

As earlier mentioned, with the new contract coming into the effect, Judge will receive $40 million a year for the next nine years. A former linebacker, Jon Najarian, shared his opinion on Twitter that in the same Johnson’s contract looked good to people after a few years, Aaron Judge’s contract will also look good after a few years down the line.

Jon wrote“It had to be done, he’s on his way to being the GOAT in the biggest market on earth. $360M will look cheap the same way @MagicJohnson Magic’s $25M 25-year year contract did just a few years later @TheJudge44.”

Although it is unfair to compare Judge’s contract to Johnson’s 41-year-old contract, MLB experts believe that Judge will lead the Yanks to their lost glory. Only time will tell how well the Yankees slugger will do for his team.
