Sometimes it becomes difficult to remember that these larger-than-life stars are humans. They bleed the same blood and feel the same feelings that fans do. Freddie Freeman’s recent heartbreaking experience has reasserted that fact. The Los Angeles Dodgers superstar was forced to spend the night at the ER after his 3-year-old son faced a terrible health scare.
Freeman’s wife Chelsea recently gave a health update on their young son on her social media accounts. While the superstar hasn’t taken any leave from his team, his household is going through a tough time. With their 3-year-old son Maximus suffering from bad health, the couple recently had a scary night on June 24th. Such was the situation that Chelsea asked fans to “say a prayer for Maximus.”

Freddie Freeman and his wife rushed to the emergency room on Wednesday. Later Chelsea revealed on her Instagram account that their son Maximus had come down a transient synovitis. It is an ailment that causes extreme pain and discomfort in the hip (per the New York Post). According to her post, Maximus developed this after he had a viral infection during the All-Star festivities.

Chelsea Freeman revealed that Maximus had stopped eating and drinking. That led to him becoming “very lethargic.” Later he underwent multiple tests and faced two attempts to get an IV. Luckily everything came back negative and there was no infection or virus detected on him. The family stayed in the ER till 3:30 am but were informed that they’ll have to keep Maximus under close monitoring for 48 hours.
“My heart breaks for all the families that have it worse,” Chelsea Freeman said. However, while Freddie Freeman spent the whole night at the ER, he was back in the field again the next day, a testament to his dedication that the Dodgers All-Star played a big role in the team’s win.

Heart of an All-Star amid struggles of a father
Millions of thoughts might have run inside Freddie Freeman’s head when he stepped up against the San Francisco Giants. While he went just 1-for-4 in the game, it was his defensive work that sealed the Dodgers’ 6-4 win against their rivals. It is worth noting that Freeman has played 104 games till now, i.e., he hasn’t missed a single game this season. That is the height of commitment that this superstar has!
Even after he spent a night in the ER, Freeman was back in the field competing. While that showed his All-Star heart, it also showed just how tough he is mentally. No wonder, people already consider him a Hall-of-Famer even before his retirement. However, that is a question for a future that is still far away. Until then, the Blue Crew needs to support this commitment with a potential World Series win. But can they do it? Their roster certainly makes it look like they can.
