Will Derek Jeter's dream World Series finally bring closure to his illustrious baseball career?

It was a memorable day for the baseball world. With the conclusion of the ALCS and NLCS, they got two champion teams for the ultimate World Series. Now, all are waiting for it to begin and end on the expected lines of a blockbuster series. Moreover, with Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge appearing in their first postseason battle, it’s a dream turning into a reality for many. Surprisingly, Derek Jeter, who has played for and won multiple championship rings, is also among them.

Winning a World Series is the ultimate goal for every baseball player. Certainly, Jeter had the same goal and fulfilled it five times. But sometimes, there are different reasons, which change the meaning of those wins. Former Yankees captain had many such reasons too and one has finally shaped into a reality with the Dodgers beating the New York Mets to set up a series against the Bronx.

It’s been a decade since Derek Jeter played his last MLB season. And more than a decade since he last won his World Series dream. Although he won everything and made it to the baseball HOF, something was missing from the list of completed dreams. But thanks to the Los Angeles Dodgers, Jeter will finally mark a tick against it. During the post-game show, Jeter revealed that the Dodgers vs Yankees were always his dream World Series, saying,, “This is the absolute ultimate. I don’t even know if I’ve said this before, but my dream world series, when I played, was Yankee Dodgers. Never actually had it happen, but I tell you what, all eyes are gonna be on this series.”

Funny, isn’t it? Captain Clutch, who had the privilege of winning multiple rings, missed his dream WS because of luck. Given that the New York Yankees have met the Los Angeles Dodgers on multiple occasions, the miss becomes more astonishing. But if the current season is accounted for, it is worth waiting. However, will there be any change in the result this time or the Los Angeles claim its victory like the 1982 season?

Yankees look to change history as they face the Dodgers record 12 times.

Notably, the Dodgers vs Yankees in the World Series finals is not a unique case. The series has already happened 11 times before, the last being in 1982 when the Pinstripes lost. However, with an 8-3 win-loss record, the Yankees will fancy themselves. But given that four decades have passed since their last meeting, it’s almost a new beginning for them. The 2024 season is a prime example of it.
