Aaron Judge is going to San Francisco. Yes, quite literally too, Judge is all set to meet the San Francisco Giants scouts, and New Yorkers aren’t too pleased about this visit.

After the Houston Astros swept the New York Yankees in the first four American League Championship Series games, Aaron Judge entered the free market. Before the 2022 regular season started, the Pinstripes front office failed to negotiate a seven-year extension with Aaron Judge worth $230 million. Consequently, Judge signed a one-year extension worth $19 million with the Pinstripes and walked through 2022 with a risky gamble on himself.

But Judge didn’t walk through 2022, he flew through it, smashed 62 home runs, broke Roger Maris’ American League record, won the AL Hank Aaron award, and became the first Yankee since Alex Rodriguez to win the American League MVP award.

Why is Aaron Judge going to San Francisco?

As was predicted, Judge entered free agency, but owing to a splendid season, he entered with an extensive list of wooers. The big question that has surrounded the world of baseball since the World Series ended is where will Aaron Judge land?

And as of now, it seems like he’s landing in San Francisco. However, after the kind of year he’s had, reports suggest he could be eyeing over $40 million a year. Will the Giants’ front office go all-out for the outfielder while competing with the mighty New York Yankees?

When asked why he was in San Francisco, Judge said, “Just visiting some family and friends, that’s about it.”

New York Yankees’ postseason slump

2009 was the last time the Bronx Bombers won the World Series or even made a World Series appearance. Since then, while they have qualified for ten postseasons, they have consistently choked and failed to reach the World Series.

Now, if rumors are to be believed and Aaron Judge signs with the San Francisco Giants, this would worsen the case for the team competing to break a 14-year-long drought.

Moreover, with 27 World Championships, the greatest in the history of Major League sports across the country, the past few years haven’t been representative of the Yankees’ glory.
