Alex Rodriguez had unreal longevity in baseball. Having played for over two decades, he kept smashing home runs from the plate. It has been over five years since A-Rod bid farewell to baseball. But even now, in his post-retirement career, the former Yankee has been immensely successful.
Although A-Rod is sitting on the pile of cash today, his childhood was not the same. But thanks to his hard work and dedication, he has become an inspiration to millions. Not long but a year ago, A-Rod also became a part-owner of the NBA franchise, Minnesota Timberwolves.

Although buying the Timberwolves had nothing to do with his father, A-Rod felt that his only reunion with his father motivated him to do so.
Alex Rodriguez recalled his only reunion with his father in Minnesota
Per People.com, when Alex Rodriguez was only nine years old, his father, Victor, abandoned him and his mother, Lourdes. Later, when A-Rod used to play for the Seattle Mariners, his ex-wife, Cynthia Scurtis set up the meeting with his father after so many years.

Notably, A-Rod was very nervous to see his father after so many years, and that too in a ballpark in Minnesota.
“You could see people’s faces pretty good,” Alex recalled. “I certainly saw him. I was very, very nervous, and I didn’t want to look up.”
The Yankees star spent four days with his father in Minnesota. And it was nothing but a memorable episode for A-Rod.
Two decades before I became an owner of the @Timberwolves and @minnesotalynx, I reconnected with my father in the Twin Cities for the first & only time.

“Every time I think of Minnesota, I think of that moment,” said A-Rod. “It was maybe the most important four days of my life from an emotional point of view to close a loop that had been open and had been a big wound on me; that I worked through a lot in therapy over the years.”
It might be just a mere coincidence, but a few years after this meeting in Minnesota, Alex Rodriguez ended up buying a Minnesota-based NBA team.
