If someone’s bringing the fun to MLB, no doubt it’s Mookie Betts. Recently, Betts was caught on camera mocking Derek Jeter after the New York Yankees lost to the LA Dodgers in a game in the World Series. Plus, being scared of the ghosts of the Dodger team’s hotel, and booking an Airbnb to escape them was as hilarious as it comes. But this isn’t all.

Mookie Betts has a love for another sport – bowling. Betts has revealed before how, if he wants to keep his competitive edge during the off-season, he sneaks into a local alley. It helps his brain function well and maintains its lane. His wife Brianna Hammonds confirmed this practice, noting if Mookie is not practicing or in the diamond, he is busy mediating with the pins. And he did it again.

Well, that’s classic Mookie Betts – there are videos of him bowling perfect 300s, winning charity events, and proving he is good in this sport, too.

There is even a picture shared on Facebook of Mookie Betts standing with the regulars. Bet the regular bowling experts would be floored—imagine competing with the baseball’s finest. So, it’s safe to say that Mookie Betts had a rather eventful time this time, from the World Series win to the podium spot in bowling. But did you know this bowling spree is nothing new for the 32-year-old?

Betts’ deep connection to bowling

Mookie Betts‘ love for bowling runs deep—right to his childhood. His knack for competition found its roots in a bowling alley, not the baseball diamond. His mom, Diana Benedict, was a competitive bowler herself and was at the lanes of the night when he was born—that’s one surreal connection he has. Plus, the LA Dodgers star practically grew up in the alley, given his mother brought his crib every day with her to the lane.

“Bowling is in my blood,” Mookie had said, mentioning how he picked up the bowling ball before he got around swinging a bat. Betts explained that bowling and baseball are more alike than one thinks. Bowling, according to him, is creative and needs a vision, much like baseball. Now, along with his wife, Mookie is also using his love for the sports to help the community.
