The NBA All-Star was pranked by the Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Mookie Betts in his own prank show, ‘Foul Play with Anthony Davis’, where athletes are given the option to play a park or foul out in the documentary-style, unscripted comedy. But Betts has done something that Davis had never anticipated.

During the unveiling of Freddie “Fastball” Gibbons’ statue on February 17, Mookie Betts played a prank on the Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts and ten-time NBA All-Star Anthony Davis. In 2024, Mookie Betts batted at an average of.289, with 130 hits, 19 home runs, 75 RBIs, and 75 runs scored across 116 games. On the other hand, the NBA superstar Anthony Davis boasts of a record of 403-376, having 25.7 PTS, 12.0 REB, 3.4 AST, and 52.8 FG percent in the 2024-2025 regular season.

Right before the start of the prank, Mookie Bettes said, “I am here to prank Dave Roberts; really, we’re going to prank AD.” Betts even mentioned not knowing about Freddie Fastball Gibbons; however, when requested to unveil the statue, he accidentally let it fall, indicating an injury in his hand, which took Davis by surprise.

Anthony Davis understood that it was Mookie Betts’ prank that was one hell of a surprise, which he didn’t expect. While Davis used to play with the athletes on his show, and most of them used to get blown away by his sense of humor and great charisma, Betts turned the tide against him, leaving him surprised yet guessing what actually happened. He even mentioned how they would like to talk about the tasks at hand and not worry about the future outcomes. 

Moreover, Betts experienced a dramatic incident last season during Game 4 of the World Series at the Yankees’ stadium, when a fan tried to remove his glove while catching the ball on the right field. So, Betts would like to remain calm and focused on his game rather than thinking about the outside noise and all, which could eventually lead to winning the World Series title again, which he has already earned twice, in 2018 and 2020, with the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers, respectively.
