A baseball legend and a world champion with the New York Mets, Lenny Dykstra has had an eventful life, to say the least. These days the MLB legend can be found commenting on the latest updates around the world. He does so via his favorite social media platform, Twitter.

Dykstra’s comments usually divide opinion but the retired baseball star recently wished a climate activist a happy birthday. The climate activist that he wished is none other than 20-year-old Greta Thunberg. But while wishing her, he also remembered someone from his past.

Lenny Dykstra recently wished Greta Thunberg a belated happy 20th birthday in an unusual way. While wishing her, he recalled what Dwight ‘Doc’ Gooden achieved as a 20-year-old. The two were teammates on the Mets at the time and Dykstra vividly recalls what Gooden achieved. In a Tweet, he wished Thunberg and proceeded to list all of Gooden’s stats from his season as a 20-year-old.

In the Tweet, Dykstra said “Sorry for being 4 days late, but happy 20th birthday to everyone’s favorite child, #GretaThunberg ! PS My first year in the majors, my teammate, a child of that same age, @DocGooden16, went 24-4, with a 1.53 ERA, 268 strikeouts, 276 2/3 innkngs pitched and 16 complete games.

This is not the first time that Dykstra has tweeted about the activist either. The MLB legend recently ridiculed her for her comments on Andrew Tate. Coming back to Dwight Gooden, he and Dykstra once achieved something very special while playing together.

Dykstra and Gooden helped lead the Mets to the 1986 World Series title

In 1986, Gooden was named an All-Star for the regular season and Dykstra had an All-Star level season. But in the postseason, it was Dykstra who shined the most. Both of them had good performances in the NLCS. But in the World Series, Dykstra turned the tides in the Met’s favor as they were losing.
