The Angels have not made the postseason for 9 years. They last qualified during the 2014 season. Most recently, Mike Trout revealed that he dreams of making a deep playoff run with the team and winning a World Series. FOX Sports: MLB shared a video of an interview that Trout did with Ken Rosenthal. During the interview, he also answered why he has committed his future to the Angels despite their poor record over the last decade. He confirmed that he wants to win a World Series in Anaheim and that is what is pushing him to stay and commit.

When asked if this season is critical, Trout said, “It is for sure, I mean winning this year in the playoffs, making a push, and hopefully winning the World Series. I think that would change a lot, just put that perspective of they’re here to win.” He then commented on his commitment to the team saying, “I signed a contract here, and one of my goals is to win a World Series in Anaheim. That always pushes me.”

The Angels currently own a 12-12 win-loss record and sit third in the AL West. With a few good results, they could establish a foothold in their division. The Houston Astros seem out of form and the Texas Rangers are not out of reach yet.

This may be Trout’s last chance to make a deep playoff run

Mike Trout and the Angels have not made the postseason since 2014. This year may be the last chance that Trout has to make a deep playoff run. That is because Shohei Ohtani may leave in free agency after this season, with a $500 million contract being rumored. If Ohtani does leave, the Angels will be unlikely to find a superstar-level player to replace him. It will be interesting to see how Trout’s season progresses and whether his team makes the postseason.
