The future of Chicago Cubs slugger Cody Bellinger has become a hot topic. There are whispers of a potential trade despite his opting for a $27.5 million deal for the 2025 season. This is surprising given that the Chicago Cubs want to remain playoff contenders, and Bellinger is one of their key players. Plus, he is on a great contract, yet the chances of a trade are now looming high.
Newsweek’s Zach Pressnel reported that the San Francisco Giants are turning out to be a brilliant spot for Bellinger. Buster Posey is apparently looking to strengthen the roster under his leadership next season. They need an outfielder, and Bellinger fits right with the team. Also, add in the fact that the Giants want to close the gap between them and their division rivals like the LA Dodgers and Padres; it all makes sense. And well, Posey, in a recent interview, was geared up for the upcoming season, which does say a thousand words.

Buster Posey is clear about his ambitions for the San Francisco Giants. In the Baseball Tonight podcast, he expressed his sheer excitement to build a playoff-contending team. He mentioned that San Francisco is a baseball city. “San Francisco is a baseball town,” said Buster Posey. It seemed like Posey wanted to tell the free-agent players that there was much to gain if they joined the Giants. And he didn’t stop just there!
Buster Posey continued saying, “And we have a unique fan base, a beautiful ballpark. And, and what I think is really a place that’s set up for winning baseball, which is great pitching and defense.” It seems like the Giants are all clear on what to do to get their postseason glory. With this vision, the Giant’s rumored interest in Cody Bellinger makes perfect sense. He is a versatile outfielder, has a powerful bat, and sits well with Posey’s strategy of improving the team’s offense.
