This is highly unlikely with Scott Boras as his agent, with the super agent notorious for negotiating some of MLB’s biggest contracts. Furthermore, Boras is adept at playing the waiting game. 

This makes it more likely that he and Bellinger will wait out the Cubs and secure the best possible deal. It remains to be seen how much this pact will be for and whether Bellinger will get $200 million or more. But it is highly unlikely that Boras will be the first side to compromise.

Negotiations with the Cubs have not progressed, but no other teams have emerged as strong contenders. Bellinger’s $200 million demand has seemingly discouraged teams from entering the chase.
