At this point, it seems any team that can clench Juan Soto this off-season will automatically have the ticket to the World Series 2025. Well, given that the top teams, from the New York Yankees and New York Mets to even the dark horses like the Blue Jays and even the Boston Red Sox, are in the race, it sure seems so. The Boston Red Sox making a run for the Dominican is something no one expected, although. Because his alleged contract is going to go upwards of $600 million!

Meanwhile, the Red Sox, after signing the 2017 deal with J.D. Martinez, stayed away from such blockbuster free-agent signings. They instead opted for low-key options like Trevor Story or Michael Wacha. But like a dark knight, they have come into this race for Soto. And it turns out the meeting that Juan Soto and his agent Scott Boras were supposed to have with them went more than well! While many insiders revealed that the Red Sox will be aggressive in the off-season, this isn’t what their star Jarren Duran seems to exude, at least through his words and especially on the Juan Soto aspect.

Red Sox are confident of their young core, even with Juan Soto

Have you ever sat through a three-hour-long meeting? Most probably not, right? At least not without a break in between! But it seems like the Red Sox and Juan Soto had stretched their meeting for three hours. The team leaders, including Sam Kennedy and Alex Cora, were present too. While that long of a meeting can scream, OTT, or desperate, it’s not exactly how the team looks at it. Jarren Duran was recently asked about Soto and the move forward next season, and he ignored the question!

Jarren Duran, instead of focusing on what Soto can do for the team, turned everyone’s attention to their current young team of players. Duran said, We are such a competitive team, man; we know we hit our bumps in the row; we are just so young, like you know, and we are able to put our name out there on the map, and that’s awesome.” He also explained that when young players like Roman Anthony say he wants to play a game like him, it makes him happy. Happy because he inspires the young.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Juan Soto be the Red Sox's next legend, or is their young core already enough?

Have an interesting take?

Well, it seems Duran is hinting that despite whether Juan Soto joins them—they are strong enough!

David Ortiz asks the Red Sox to sign Juan Soto

David Ortiz is one of Boston’s most loved legends, and he has a strong message for his team—bring Soto to Fenway. Ortiz recently mentioned that the 26-year-old off-season superstar is the perfect player for the Red Sox. Someone he sees can fill in his shoes on the team. Coming from a legend, this is big! Ortiz mentioned, “If there’s a guy I’d build a team around, it’s Juan Soto.” In fact, he went as far as to say that the Yankees went as far as they did, all thanks to Soto.

Ortiz added, “He changed everything for them.” As such, he is expecting Soto to join in and deliver results for the Red Sox. Big Papi even pointed out Soto’s personality and his ability to connect to both his American and Latin teammates. This, for him, makes a powerful clubhouse vibe. As far as we know, the Red Sox did sell Soto the pitch of not what they can offer in terms of money but the history of the team. They have a strong history with Dominican players, and this was indeed part of the 3-hour meet.
