MLB stars’ careers have been judged based on their achievements and the way they carried themselves, among other factors. Very few players have surpassed the individual and team achievements that Derek Jeter has collected during his career. But despite these massive numbers and numerous honors, Jeter never bragged about his accomplishments.

In fact, he would try to keep his celebrations as low-key as possible when it came to his individual achievements. In 2011, Jeter had a quiet celebration even after achieving one of the biggest milestones of his 20-year career.

In 2011, Derek Jeter recorded the 3000th of his career, further cementing his place among baseball greats. But the New York Yankees’ legendary shortstop didn’t have a gigantic party to celebrate the achievement. Instead, Jeter organized a small gathering of his closest friends, family, and his then-girlfriend, Minka Kelly, to celebrate his big moment.

According to Page Six, “Derek Jeter opted to celebrate with an intimate affair rather than an over-the-top extravaganza.” The article also said, “the slugger hosted about 25 close friends and family, including main squeeze Minka Kelly, at Southern Hospitality BBQ in Hell’s Kitchen.” This was in line with the legendary shortstop’s humble personality.

But although his celebration was quiet and low-key, the way he reached his 3000th hit was not. Jeter recorded his 3000th hit on a home run while playing against the Tampa Bay Rays on June 9th, 2011. Furthermore, he hit 5-5 that day, leading the Yankees to a 5-4 victory. His father was extremely happy for him, almost tearing up. But getting back to the legendary Yankee shortstop, he has always been a clutch player.

Jeter came up clutch in the biggest moments

Derek Jeter was the definition of a clutch player, he even earned the nickname Captain Clutch. The Yankee shortstop was a massive contributor to the 5 World Series titles he won with the team. This was due to his tendency to come alive in the postseason and record some big hits. Jeter even ended his last career home game with a clutch hit, picking up a walk-off game-winning single.
