Despite better numbers, and a long legacy to support their greatness, Alex Rodriguez, Manny Ramírez, and Gary Sheffield still stand far, far away from the 75% mark that will carry them inside the esteemed walls of Cooperstown. On the other hand, seven-time All-Star, with eight Golden Gloves, Scott Rolen entered the Hall of Fame with a 76.3% ballot. And as expected, multiple questions were raised, but 99.75% Hall of Fame entry, Derek Jeter recently set the record straight in an interview with the Palm Beach Post.
In 2020, with an almost unanimous ballot, Derek Jeter unsurprisingly entered the Hall of Fame with a 99.75% majority, and one vote against him. Following Rolen’s entry, and the allegation toward the BBWAA, who have consistently displayed a tendency against players associated with steroids, the five-time World Champion used some strong words in an attempt to put a stop to assumptions.

After a variety of star names were ignored once again, Derek Jeter asked people to refrain from making assumptions. Notably, Captain Clutch, or Mr. November was a man of great ethics, and diplomatically took a stand against the use of steroids.

Jeter, in a response to people criticizing the snubbing of A-Rod, Manny Ramirez, and Gary Sheffield, said, “You have to protect against assuming and making insinuations. People say they think this, they think that but no one actually knows. Who knows what’s going to happen.”
Gary Sheffield registered 181 votes with a 55% ballot, while A-Rod and Ramirez collected 139 (35.7%) and 129 (33.2%) votes respectively. Evidently very distant from the 75% mark.
