Derek Jeter never pursued renown when he began playing for the New York Yankees. Rather, greatness found him. His diligence in the sport earned him elite status as a baseball player, something he maintains to this day. A most beloved athlete, the Captain has long since hung up his uniform and gone on in search of different pursuits. One of them is the clothing line called Greatness Wins, something not many knows about.

Greatness Wins is a sportswear brand that was co-founded by Jeter and UNTUKit founder, Chris Riccobono. Hockey legend Wayne Gretzky and ballerina Misty Copeland also back it. Since athletic wear by sports personalities is nothing new in the clothing world, Jeter’s aim is to take it to the ‘next level’. And since the former Yankee has a reputation for achieving whatever he puts his mind to, he might just make it happen. In fact, the brand recently made a huge move regarding its progress.

Jeter and Gretzky’s brand just signed on its first student ambassador. Blake Corum from the University of Michigan is a talented running back on the school’s Wolverines football team. Women’s Wear Daily announced the news that Corum will be joining Greatness Wins as their first student-athlete brand ambassador.

His role will be to rep the brand on campus by wearing its apparel and will also appear in social media campaigns for Greatness Wins.

Interestingly, the running back plays with a number 2 on his jersey, much like his idol Derek Jeter used to play baseball. He told WWD, “After wearing the number 2 for my whole life because of Derek Jeter, it feels surreal to be working alongside him and the Greatness Wins team in this new chapter, as I head into my last season of college football.”

Jeter has a unique connection to the University of Michigan

Growing up in Kalamazoo, the retired shortstop once had big plans of playing for his state’s school. Already a sensation before he graduated high school, Jeter became a much sought-after player. His dream was to play for the New York Yankees one day, but before that came school.
