Juan Soto didn’t sign nearly a billion-dollar contract just to jog around the bases and take leisurely walks at the plate. The expectation is for you to deliver more than just a sweet swing and a good eye. The pressure is on, and the critics are sharpening their knives. So, what exactly does Soto need to do to justify a contract that makes Wall Street executives jealous?
The time is nigh and Juan Soto is ready for the new season. But many are questioning him already. Well, not him but his contract.
A $765 million contract needs to be justified and that is what the MLB insiders are asking for.

In a recent X post by the Foul Territory, the MLB insiders told what made them feel like it would justify the $765 million contract. One of them pointed out “It would be winning divisions a handful of times.” They want Soto to bring the WS title for the team and that’s the “first and foremost” expectation. That might make the “cards worth even more!”

Talking about the worth of the contract, another insider mentioned, “For the contract to be worthwhile if they’re still able to sign other superstars. Because if this contract inhibits the Mets from signing other superstars, then it is a burdensome contract.”
By the looks from the spring training, Juan Soto is looking at 50 home runs in 2025, but all of that won’t matter if the New York Mets cannot sign any other player due to this contract – more of a problem than a solution.
Even if he gets to 60 home runs, it won’t matter because the Mets will not be able to bolster their squad. But otherwise, the contract has done its job.
This might put the Mets on the map as championship contenders. NYM will become a destination for future players and the center of it will be Juan Soto.
At the end of the day, Juan Soto can smash 50, 60, or even 70 home runs, but if the Mets can’t afford to build a championship-caliber team around him, that $765 million price tag starts looking more like a financial chokehold than a golden investment. Superstars don’t win rings alone—just ask Mike Trout. So, while Soto’s bat might be worth a fortune, the real question is whether the Mets paid for a generational talent or just a really expensive fireworks show.
Juan Soto and the Mets are primed for the 2025 MLB season
The New York Mets didn’t shell out a fortune for Juan Soto just to watch him take batting practice in a fancy uniform. This is about championships, not just highlight reels. The stakes are sky-high, the expectations even higher, and anything less than dominance will have critics sharpening their pitchforks.
So, as the 2025 season approaches, one question looms—are Soto and the Mets ready to turn all that money into glory?

Many fans were asking if Juan Soto is ready for the 2025 season. And he answered them with style. He launched a rocket in his first at-bat of the spring training that landed 426 feet away from the home plate. And that wasn’t the only one as he hit another bomb against the Nationals in their 7-0 victory.
Also in an interview, Soto said, “It’s been a Mets town for a long time. I think we just gotta bring it to the top. Championships are gonna tell you if it’s a Yankees or a Mets town at the end of the day.” This shows the confidence he has in the organization.
The Mets have always shown promise but fall short as they come close to the end. But with Juan Soto, Francisco Lindor, Pete Alonso, and Brandon Nimmo at the wheel, 2025 is looking bright.
