The New York Yankees have been linked to a number of top free agents and trade targets. While Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Juan Soto lead the free-agent market, another player has gained immense attention from the Yanks. Jon Heyman of the New York Post thinks the team might go all-out to reverse the effects of a poor 2023.

Despite concerns about the team’s capacity to allocate enough funds and resources to add multiple nine-figure contracts, the Yanks are just going for it. They do have a big financial obligation on the roster, but certainly winning comes first.

Big Acquisitions Upcoming

During an MLB Now segment, Jon Heyman expressed his belief that the Yankees have a chance to acquire two of the three players most closely associated with the team. Yamamoto, Soto, and Cody Bellinger. Sure, it would be an expensive affair. Hal Steinbrenner might attempt to follow in George’s footsteps and try to solve the team’s problems with money. The team is in dire need of star power and maybe 2 out of these 3 will be the solution.

The fan base obviously wants one of those names more than any player in recent memory. It is none other than Juan Soto. About this, Jon even shared some affirmation. Juan Soto, a 25-year-old left-handed superstar, could be the best addition to the Yankees in a very long time because who would not want a valuable asset in the league like him? Well, he’s not the only one the teams are hungry for.

The Boston Red Sox, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and crosstown rival the New York Mets are just a few of the teams vying for Yamamoto’s services. Every team in the big leagues wants to add him. He could be a great fit for New York, given their areas of improvement.

Moving on to Bellinger, though his batted ball statistics have raised some internal concerns, he is still a great defender who can play both first base and outfield defense worthy of a Gold Glove. Now that’s a skill the Yanks need in their lineup. Though there are speculations on who could potentially land in NYY, there is no information from the higher ups.

What’s Next for the New York Yankees?

That said, it’s not like the Yanks have made zero moves yet. They did send Jake Bauers to the Milwaukee Brewers, but that hardly made it to the news. What did make the headlines was Hal’s fiery responses to the media upon being questioned. As a disgruntled owner who understands that this fanbase expects nothing less than greatness, Hal Steinbrenner’s press conference revealed a strange vigor. With the below-par 2023, the next year’s expectations from the team come with high pressure.

The leadership has a big move to make, and acquiring some exceptional talents might be their first step. As hopeful as it sounds, one awaits an official statement from the Yankees. Sources say that the owner would have to spend handsomely this winter for monumental changes to happen next year. Only time will tell how things pan out for this franchise.
